What is a class action lawsuit?

Class action lawsuits allow people to join forces to achieve justice. Class actions are a procedural tool that empower a group of people (called the class) to resolve their claims in a single case, by allowing another class member to litigate their claims on their behalf. To be eligible, class members must have suffered similar harm caused by the same defendant. Class actions allow a group of consumers to unite to recover compensation and change company practices in ways that are not possible for consumers litigating by themselves.
